Kiva is a non-profit that allows you to loan small amounts (as small as $25) to unique small businesses in the developing world. You can browse through the portfolio of businesses and choose to which ones you will donate money. As the loan is paid back you can withdraw your money or re-circulate it back into another business. This is a great concept and makes it a very low-risk way for even those with limited resources to reach out and contribute to a positive change in the world. I’m getting ready to try it out for the first time so I’ll be sure and post any developments with it.
